Our clear and simple Mission Statement: SAVE MY FISH
Hello fellow Sports Fishermen and Fisherwomen:
My name is Rich Wooten. I am a native Oregonian and have fished and hunted my whole life. The changes I have seen over the past 20-years to our Fishery; quite frankly make me sick. Our resources have been miss-managed to the point of no return yet I refuse to go quietly into that good night. Currently in the Northwest there are many organized efforts from the Sports Fishing Community that have banded together to help protect our fishery; examples are Northwest Steelheaders (2,000 members), Oregon Angler (300 members) and the new kids on the block the Coastal Conservation Association (7,000 members). While we believe each of these organizations (and many others) have the best intentions of protecting our resources (and we support all of them), what is happening is they are fragmenting any potential impact the Sports Fisherman might have. In addition dollars collected in dues, fees, fundraisers and donation are duplicated in expenses such as General and Administrative, promotions and the Holy Grail The Lobbyist! We are not suggesting that any of these organizations be abandoned in anyway. We are simply looking to develop a repository for all Sports Fisherman so the actual scope and support for the Fishery we have can be demonstrated.
There is a lot “miss” information out there or may be better stated a lack of information. It is our intent that the information we post on this Web-site will be useful in assisting you to make better choices and get involved in our Fisheries. All we ask of you is one thing; sign up and become a member of SAVE MY FISH. There will be no dues or membership fees. No donations will be accepted. Think of it as signing an Internet Petition on steroids! Well where do we start? How about right here. If you would like to become a Charter Member of SAVE MY FISH, just send us your contact information using the Contact - Join link to the left on this page. If you provide your e-mail address we will be sending out broadcast of current events I am going to call BaitBytes. If you would like to make a comment, please feel free to do so and I will post it on the site.
Tight Lines,
Rich

Salmon
Fall Salmon fisheries for both Coho and Chinook are great fish to end the year. We start our Fall season with Coho on the main Umpqua River. This river system is one of the only systems in Oregon that we can keep Coho (Silver) Salmon.Coho are a great fighting salmon that average 8 - 10 lbs. and they have incredible aerial displays a they dance across the water.
In November, we move down to the Elk & Sixes Rivers for some of the latest, brightest and freshest fall Chinook that run on the entire West Coast. This fishery is truly incredible. We fish on a small river Salmon that is virtually in the ocean the day before. These salmon are big & powerful. We fish for Sping Chinook beginning in April. These are known as exceptional quality table fair. We fish the Umpqua, Willamette, and the McKenzie river systems.
Steelhead
Winter Steelhead fishing on Oregon coastal rivers. We fished some of the most premiere Steelhead fisheries in Oregon. The South Coqville River year after year is ranked as one of the top Steelhead fisheries in Oregon.
The Elk and Sixes Rivers provides a spectacular run of wild Steelhead with virtually no hatchery fish. There have never been hatchery fish introduced into these two rivers.
We do promote these rivers as catch and release, but we are allowed to keep one fish per day per person. Only five per person per year. We also fish in Umpqua system as well.
Bass
Smallmouth Bass fishing on the Main Umpqua. This river has been rated as 2nd or 3rd best Smallmouth Bass fishing river in the United States. We catch these fish beginning in April for the big bass as they come out of their dormant stage and begin feeding.
We do combination trips this time of the year for Spring Chinook and/or Shad depending on weather & water conditions. These smallies pound for pound are some of the best fighting freshwater fish you will ever have the pleasure of battling. We fish several stretches of the Umpqua and have access to some of the most premier private river accesses on the entire Umpqua system.
We can also arrange excellent lodging accommodations along the river or hotels near the river.
