The sports fisheries’ voice has become fragmented due to too many related organizations. It appears to me at least, that they are more concerned with funding their full time payrolls then effecting real cooperation and change. Coming together as one can force compromise but the commercial fisheries are here to stay too so it benefits everyone to cooperate and find some common ground to work from.
It is all our responsibility to manage our natural resources for the generations to come and this may well be the start of bringing all fisheries people together as one voice. Thank you for taking the lead on this Rich…you have my support as this affects Idaho fisheries as well and I’m anxious to become part of this movement. Where do I sign up?!

Remove the Gillnets
I understand that today the Department of Fish and Wildlife issued a notice that they were closing the Columbia to Sport Fishing while leaving the Commercial Gillnets in the River to continue harvesting Spring Salmon. You must do all you can to get the gillnets out of the river too or you need to take personal responsibility for helping to kill off some of the last bounty our earth has to offer.

Thank you for your comments Nancy. However in the near term, the nets are here to stay. The Commercial Fishery is not centered in the Northwest, it is a nation wide powerful PAC and we cannot fight them on our own. So we had probably figure out a way to stop fighting with them and come together to support a stable Fishery and echo-system of our resources.

Mock Legislation
I think one thing that could make a difference that I have not seen with other organizations would be for the members to propose theoretical legislation and then vote on it and send the results to the politicians.

Goals of Save My Fish
you need to state right upfront what the goals of save my fish are abouts if you do not we really do not know what we are supporting. do you want to ban gillnetting, commercial fishing, stop all logging, no more water pull downs for irrigating. i think you we need to put together a specific list of the goals and then identify and execute how you can complete the plan. at least you have done something.

You obviously have the intellect and resources to take your opinions to the people but where will you go from there? What type of support are you looking for? You say you want no dues or donations so how do you plan on funding the project? Everything has a price tag. Your site is appreciated and refreshing.
