Warm Water Fish Forum

So what is a warm water fish? Well to Fishery Biologist in the Northwest it is a variety of fresh water fish from Small Mouth Bass, Catfish and Blue Gill.

With little known notoriety to the Warm Watery Fishery is the New Kid on the Block The Walleye. This is a non-indigenous fish that now inhabits The Columbia and Willamette Rivers. The Columbia is expected to set the next World Record Walleye well over 20 pounds.

The Warm Water Fishery in the Northwest does not get a lot of publicity and is our least utilized resource.

There are several World Class Small Mouth Bass Fisheries in the Northwest that regularly kick out +6 pound Small Mouth and +100 fish days. Notably The John Day and Umpqua Rivers.

Editors note: The Warm Water Fishery in the Northwest seems to be stable, viable and healthy for the most part. Interesting this is the only resource with no Commercial harvest to speak of.
